For exactly half a century (since our foundation in 1951) Yassavoli Publications has held firmly to the premise that a nations' art and culture provide much of the bedrock of its civilization. We, at Yassavoli Publications, are convinced, as are most of our patrons, that Iran's contributions to these two important fields are entirely distinctive and of profound significance in shaping our nations' pride and identity- to say nothing of our contribution to the Islamic world and the world at large. For these reasons Yassavoli Publications' dedicated staff and consultants have searched far and wide to locate and present the very best from Iran's glorious past- while simultaneously generating ideas and publishing new approaches to our very own art and culture. The core of our effort has been the crafting and printing of high quality books.
A quick overview of some of our works follows:
As might be expected Yassavoli has presented many volumes of Iranian poetry, in all its many forms with particular attention to our national treasures: Hafez, Sa'di, Ferdowsi, Omar Khayyam and Nezami. Our extensive collection of works on ancient and modern painters and miniaturists have received critical acclaim, as have our publications on calligraphy- another area where Iran has made a special contribution. Our many books and albums on Iranian handicrafts has pride of place and our popular and academic texts on carpets, rugs, gelims, terme, tacheh, and even nomadic horse trappings are the envy of our competitors. Responding to demand we have slowly generated an outstanding library of travel and photographic books covering Iran in all its geographical, ethnic, and climatic diversity. All these works are richly illustrated with black and white or color photographs by Iran's skilled photographers. A number of the books cover the Nation in its totality; others cover special regions and/or cities such as Isfahan, Shiraz, and Kashan. As might be expected there are special publications on our exciting mountain ranges, enormous deserts, diverse tribal groups, famous archaeological sites and great monuments. Our most recent archaeological books on Persepolis are destined to be classics.
In addition to the books and albums mentioned above our effort to publicize Iranian art and culture has become as diverse as possible. Yassavoli Publications thus issues beautiful postcards, greeting cards, Now Ruz cards, posters and calendars.
We also carry a full range of supplies for aspiring calligraphers. Our books are sold in every book store in the land and our remarkable posters grace most hotels and many government offices.
